In response to the Government of Zambia’s Fifth National Development Plan, the UN Development Framework identified four areas of co-operation where the UN can collectively make a difference and add real value to development and poverty reduction in Zambia.
These four areas are:
- HIV and AIDS
- Food and Security
- Basic social services
- Governance

THE UN PARTNERS WITH LUSAKA PRESS CLUB TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENTNew
The United Nations in Zambia has launched a working partnership with the Lusaka Press Club - an umbrella association drawing together media practitioners in Zambia. The UN-LPC partnership aims at promoting development news coverage and further seeks to inspire a more strategic focus on the impact of the UN's development work in Zambia.
The UN-LPC Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the 9th July event by UN Resident Coordinator Macleod Nyirongo and the Lusaka Press Club Chairman, Shapi Shaciinda. Zambia's Deputy Minister for Information and Broadcasting Hon. Joseph Muchima presided over the launch that was witnessed by several UN Agency Heads among them, UNAIDS Country Coordinator Dr. Amaya Gillespie, UNICEF Representative Ms. Lotta Sylwander, UNFPA Representative Mr. Duah Owusu-Sarfo and IOM Head of Mission Mr. Josiah Ogina.
